The Existing Infrastructure

1.     B.K.L.Walawalkar Hospital and Diagnostic Centre.

2.     A quarterly publication “Uplift” from B.K.L.Walawalkar Hospital.

3.     Three temples at : 1) Mumbai

                              2) Pune

                                    3) Dervan (Tal. Chiplun, Dist. Ratnagiri)

       under which various social activities are carried out.                

Gist of activities carried by the trust

The  aim  is to  provide human beings   basic needs, such as  food, water, clothing, shelter, education, and  medical  aid for his  physical   survival and  spiritual  discourse  for his  self-realisation. The maximum  concentration  is  however  on Dervan  and  surrounding  villages, Dervan  is a village about  19  Kilometres  from   Chiplun and 290  Kilometres  from  Mumbai- Goa  highway. The  population  of   Dervan and  nearby  villages  is 0.6 million.  It has  an average rainfall of 85  inches  and  moderate  temperature  of 330 C. The trust has been  doing  the work  of  providing   these  basic  needs  to  people  in the above mentioned areas. All  these  activities  are  carried out  irrespective  of caste,  creed  or  religion   of the  person whom  help is rendered.                                                                          

Contributions over 32 years towards  alleviating  human sufferings                   

Some  of the   major projects  undertaken by the  Trusts on a continuous basis  are  as  follows :                                                                                

1)       “Work is worship”   being  the motto of the  Trusts, it has been   providing   work  for last 20 years  to all  those who  seek it. 

2)       Under the project “helping hand for handicapped &  underprivileged,” the Trust   has built  a most  modern  Hospital  and  Diagnostics  Complex  named  B.K.L.Walawalkar  Hospital  & Diagnostics  Centre  at  Dervan  at the  cost  of  Rs. 80 million and has  been  giving  subsidised-medical aid.

3)       The  Trust has been  providing  ‘free  medical aid’ to the  villagers through  the OPDs, and dispensary  at Dervan  for the  last  20 years.

4)       The   trust  has been  conducting  various  ‘medical and  awareness camps’ including  ‘AIDS awareness’ by taking  expert  Doctors  help and  providing  medicine  to the  villagers  from  remotest  and  backward areas.

5)       Project  ‘roof  over your  head’  has been  in full swing for the last six  years. Since 1992, it has  provided “Manglore” roof  tiles  to 914 houses from 43  villages  at  the  cost  of  Rs.2.5 million.

6)       Under the  project “free the hungry”,  the Trust  has been  providing  Free   Lunch every year to  25,000 poor villagers, for the last  6 years.

7)       The  trust has till  today  built/repaired/renovated 16 school  buildings from  the   surrounding   villages.

8)       The Trusts  has  repaired/renovated 44  temples  from  the surrounding areas.

9)       The  Trusts  has been  distributing  scholarships  every  year  to 250 primary  school students, 50  students for  higher  education  and 15 students  for  professional  courses.

10)   The  trust has been  providing  drinking water  to the  villagers by  3 tankers, between  March  and  June  everyday  for last  22 years.

11)   The trust has got  old  wells repaired, dug up new wells & ponds  and  installed  20 borewells in surrounding villages.

12)    The government   due to  paucity  of funds  could not provide roads/bridges etc. Hence the trust  has  built  5km. WBM (Water bound Macudum roads) roads connecting 14 villages and  has   built  3 bridges on the river  Kashyapi.

13)   The innovative project  of helping poor villagers  by eradicating dowry practice .

14)   For the last  six years, the trust has been   providing  woollen blankets,  in every  winter season,  to protect  the   villagers.

15)   The Trust  launched  a massive  programme “back to your homes & hearth”. With the  collaboration of experts  from  Agricultural colleges, the  farmers  have been taught   productive methods of farming.

16)   Clothes  are  distributed  at  least  twice  a year.

17) Through the  Employment  guarantee  scheme the Trust  has  ensured  that  there  is  no  unemployed  youth  in this  area  and that  enough  wages  are paid  which  will  give  them  two  meals  a day  and  they  can  save  something  for the  rainy days.
