The hospital has 250 beds and all its supporting departments are located in one campus. It has ICU, Surgical ICU, Neonatal ICU, Operation Theatres and a well equipped Diagnostic Centre, having facilities of CT Scanner, 2D Echo, Color Doppler, Tread mill test, Haemodialysis Unit.
The ICU department is well equipped with Ventilators, Defibrillators, Pacemakers etc. to take care of the critically ill patients. Similarly, Neonatal ICU, established since 1997 with 10 incubators and a ventilator, is the only ICU available in entire Konkan Region to take care of neonates and more than 3000 neonates have been nursed in the NICU so far. Haemodialysis unit takes care of acute and chronic Renal failure. Operation Theatre is equipped with all kinds of Scopes like Laparoscope, Cystoscope, nephro - ureteroscope, arthroscope & image intensifier.
The Hospital also has adequate patients’ services, well-equipped supportive service departments such as Pathology, Histopathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Radiology etc. All Departments like Medicine, Surgery, Gynecology & Obstetrics, Orthopedic, Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Community Health, Dentistry etc. Super Specialty Departments like Onco surgery, Neuro Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Laparoscopic Surgery, Uro Surgery, Joint Replacement Surgery, Endoscopic Spine Surgery, Neurology, Psychiatry, Nephrology, Gastro–enterology, Cardiology. It also has a full-fledged Blood Bank in the campus and Services of 25 Doctors are available round the clock. Doctors and other staff of the Hospital have been provided with residential quarters in the campus, as such any medical emergency is taken care of. Arrangements for the stay of relatives of patients admitted in the Hospital has been made in the campus itself, along with provision of fair priced Medical and General shops as well as a highly subsidized and hygienic Canteen to take care of the requisite refreshments to the visitors.
On an average about fifty thousand patients are treated at the Hospital per annum. Residents of Konkan Region, where per capita income is one of the lowest in our country, can hardly afford to pay the ‘real cost’ of the treatment from a well equipped Ultra modern Hospital like Walawalkar Hospital at Dervan. Patients from the lower economic strata are therefore granted substantial concessions in their Hospitalization (IPD) bills. Cost of such concessions offered (directly or indirectly) on Charitable basis, so far, is approximately around Rs.150 lakhs, on a very modest scale.
This is usually the point where first interaction of the patient with the hospital doctor takes place. Thus a patient has to be first examined in an O.P.D before the details of his treatment are worked out. As per the ailments of the body, the O.P.D's are differentiated as follows :
Gynecology & Obstetrics
